This beautiful doe is Mariposa. She is wide, very long and uphill. She has loads of dairy character too. She is a huge improvement over her dam in that she has much more correct shoulders, better front end assembly, nicer texture to her udder and even larger teat size. The only problem I have with Mariposa is her personality. She's very flighty. Mariposa did freshen as a yearling in early February 2010 but she was early and kidded overnight, unattended in the barn on a cold night. Her kids did not survive. I was devastated as they were triplet does. We feared that Mariposa was deficient in calcium so we allowed her to dry off immediately. We snapped a couple pictures for later reference and left her alone to recover with the other goats which would not stress her any. We are happy to say that she did exceptionally well after kidding and thrived. We did a repeat breeding with Mariposa to River. Unfortunately this time she had triplet bucks who were all petted out. I did milk Mariposa this time though and wow, she has huge easy to milk teats and much softer texture than her dam.
